Neil Oliver is a Scottish archaeologist, historian, broadcaster, and writer. He is well known for his BBC history series, A History of Scotland and A History of Ancient Britain. In recent years, Neil has become a part of GBN News family as the weekly host of Neil Oliver Live where he brings his common sense, unique perspective on the major stories from around the world. His opening remarks are always a must watch for me and many of his wievers.
I met Neil almost 2 years ago in Bath, UK at a conference. Since then we have became fast friends. Together we have co-hosted many spaces on X discussing censorship, early treament, the World Health Organization and global totalitarianism, female health, rise in cancers, all cause mortality around the world and much more. Neil has been gifted with a fresh and relatable outlook on life. He speaks the language of the common men and women, and his heart is as big as the ocean and above all kind.
In this Global Health Project, Voices for Humanity podcast we discuss past years, global totalitarianism, shared experiences, sorrows, losses and wins. We also share few laughs and have honest conversation about life. As I told Neil, I don’t think that either one of us expected to be right here in this moment in time, speaking out against the injustice and persecutions of the past few years. As the Bible verse says “Perhaps you were born for such a time like this” and perhaps we were, but this honor comes with a huge responsibility as well.
We must learn from mistakes, grow and challenge the narratives when needed, but also look for hope and grace, and continue to be the voice for many who cannot speak. I know that both Neil and I take this honor seriously and are grateful and humbled to be able to share this space in such times like these.
I hope you enjoy, as musch as I did, this conversation with a man, a legend and best of all, my friend Neil.
Thanks so much for this. More masks mear me today at the grocery store....I tend to start singing, (something popular is a good choice) and I have a very loud voice. They hate when you sing....!!!!!they run away!!! would be interesting to try on a plane with nowhere for them to run...maybe a few would want to sing too...you would think.
